We are not the cars we drive!

Driving in Jozi is like competing with Michael Schumacher on the race track. No it’s not normal, however

it’s become the norm. We are so used to it that we get stressed out, panic, we entertain road rage. We act

out of character!

Where is our humanity…?

We do not consider the next Human being!

We see the person as “ that Beemer (BMW) is driving crap, that Polo thinks it’s a Beemer (BMW) and

drives crap”! We don’t stop for a minute to think what that poor learner, the elderly, the parents with kids

in the back seat but to name a few; what are they going through when we sit behind our steering wheel and

hoot like it’s a jive song by a favourite DJ. We flash them with our bright’s, because cars have lights so play with it like it’s a torch on camp to scare little one’s afraid of the boogeyman in the dark.

I learnt a costly lesson, I used to be that driver too until I changed my driving ways due to an accident caused

by someone else. I finally decided to respect my fellow humans on the road.

A few blocks away from work one afternoon on my way to pick my child up from school, I got hit, my car

spun out of control but I managed to stop dead still. Omgash, what just happened!?! God I wasn’t speeding,

I’m sober, I followed the rules of the road, what happened?

We are not the cars we drive, with the turbo engine, sport modes, what not’s that make us feel invincible!

We are human and so are all the cars that we name and brand because their is a heart beat behind that

wheel that we have no power to replace.
