Parenting can be daunting as our babies, our little lives grow up in a world of politics, social media, and influence’s all round.
You reach a point or at least I did where you feel like your parenting styles are being challenged by others parents, teachers, the world. You stop and ask is this style still effective, do my rules and discipline ways still apply, should I change them, am I being too strict or lenient, what are my bases and what is my foundation?
It all worked from zero to I’m not so sure anymore now that you’re a tween. I see how my image and habits are being mirrored, kinda scary. Is that really me, OMGash! Does my behavior need to change, my habits reworked, my words counted. What is it that I want to illustrate in my home and value system a parent? I’m not so sure anymore.

You look at parenting styles around you in your family/friends/google and ask what is going to work for me. Next, what will work for my child. Because each kid is an individual of their own with their own personalities, and this is not a one size fits all even if you’re siblings. For each of them it’s different.
So, what would you suggest…your way as parent is not always the right way, what you say is not always cast in stone. You need to take a step back and not think about what you stood for and what you want but what do they expect of themselves and how do they see themselves in the world.
You will be amazed at the answers you get and how much they have perceived to be acceptable and not.
Communication & listening is key.
